Daniel bit his lip and silently cursed at himself.
He'd seen her just this morning standing outside her office, looking as stunning as ever.
Daniel sighed. He should've known this was coming...all the signs were there. And now look at him. And as usual he was having trouble finding the words to say to her.
Three words, to be exact.
Oh, he knew them well, and had uttered them many times before. More times, in fact, than he could count. More times than he wanted to count.
Yet, in situations like this, he found those three unpretentious words were hard for him to say.
Daniel wrapped his arms around himself protectively as he slowly made his way to Janet's door. He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts, but his mind continued to berate him. This was ridiculous. He knew exactly how she was going to react, but what else could he do? This wasn't just going to go away, and he knew it.
He had no other options, no other alternatives, no way getting around it.
He had to tell her.
There was no turning back.
Drawing a breath, Daniel steeled his nerves and rapped his knuckles against the door of Janet's office.
"Come in," her voice responded immediately.
Giving himself an encouraging nod, Daniel turned the knob and pushed the door open.
"Daniel," Janet said, getting up from her desk. "Are you all right?" She asked, noting the expression on his face.
"Yeah," he responded automatically.
Janet raised an eyebrow.
"Uh, well, actually..." he amended, trailing off.
"What is it?" she asked, obviously concerned.
Three words. It's just three words...
